ABOUT US
Our history
Com Office has been helping many companies to save on printing costs since 1997 and we can do
the same for you
Facts
Each year, millions of empty toner and inkjet cartridges used in laser printers, fax machines, and
copiers are thrown in the trash, destined for landfills and incinerators. Buying locally remanufactured
toner and inkjet cartridges — and recycling empty cartridges is an easy way for government agencies
and public institutions to reduce the environmental impact of these discarded products, while also
saving substantial amounts of tax acquired funds for the local economy.
Advantages of Using Remanufactured Cartridges
Remanufacturers inspect empty cartridges for damage and then repair or replace broken
parts, thoroughly clean the reusable components, and refill the cartridge with new toner.
Using remanufactured cartridges has significant economic and environmental advantages
Remanufactured cartridges save energy
Approximately three litres of oil are burned in the production of a single new toner cartridge.
A used cartridge can be remanufactured up to four times, depending on type and condition,
saving up to three litres of fuel each time.Remanufacturing minimizes waste.
What happens at
our factory
Established in 1997 – by owner Cameron Middleton who wondered what people were doing with their empty inkjet and toner cartridges. He discovered that
they were being thrown in the trash destined for landfills! He travelled to the USA to various factories and learned the art of refilling and remanufacturing –
Com Office was born! At first operating from his home in Berea as a one man show he then later moved to the Pearce street premises employing now over 50
staff. Com Office saves so much plastic from landfills and provides jobs in one of South Africa’s poorest provinces. There are a lot of myths about refurbished
cartridges, for example, they damage your printer. And there have been some fly by night operations that simply drill, empty old toner, and refill. But if you
take your car to a bad mechanic, you don’t throw away the car, you find a better mechanic.
Com Office cartridges are created with exacting manufacturing processes, resulting in day-to-day consistency that customers expect from originals. Compatible
with monochrome and colour laser printers from HP, Canon, Samsung and others, all imaging products are made to match brand-name standards — but at
prices that actually makes sense.
Com Office also has a very competent technical centre repairing and servicing printers as well as laptops and computers. When an original cartridge is
purchased, 90% of the money spent on the cartridges goes to the supplier overseas. With Com Office 90% is retained creating jobs and saving currency from
going overseas.
Now boasting 5 branches and 2 factories, Com Office has decided to add another trade into the mix. With his passion for coffee and wine, Middleton has
always dreamed of owning his own restaurant thus Dot Com Café was opened – situated at no.6 Pearce Street, with safe and secure parking from the Scherwitz
road entrance, Dot Com Café can be found nestled in-between picturesque gardens and water features as well as a cosy fireplace for those winter days.
Offering delightful breakfasts, lunches, sweet treats with a bit of retail shopping thrown in for good measure or a tasty cup of coffee while waiting for your
cartridges to be refilled. They also host private functions with in-house catering to suit your budget. Newly introduced is the wood fire pizza oven and the much
loved doggy friendly zone. With a fully stocked, licensed bar they are open till late on Friday nights and Saturday nights.
